Hybrid Office & Nightlife Lighting Design
Lab.Club in Shoreditch was designed to operate as two completely different environments within the same space. During the day, the venue functions as a modern creative workspace. By night, it transforms into an intimate event and nightlife environment for DJs, networking events and brand activations.
InDepth Creative was brought in to design and deliver a permanent lighting and visual system capable of supporting both modes without compromising the experience of either.
The challenge was not simply adding nightclub lighting into an office. The system needed to feel clean and architectural during working hours, while still delivering enough energy and flexibility for evening events. It also needed to remain simple enough for staff and DJs to operate without dedicated technicians onsite.

Designing a Flexible Multi-Use Environment
At the centre of the project is a 50 metre pixel mapped LED system integrated into architectural diffusion channels throughout the space. Using Resolume, Art-Net networking and dedicated pixel controllers, the lighting can shift between subtle ambient office looks and fully animated audio reactive playback depending on how the venue is being used.
The LED layout was designed to create movement and depth within the room while maintaining a clean finish that worked within the wider interior design of the space.
Alongside the pixel infrastructure, the venue also features Chauvet moving head fixtures fitted with custom Lab.Club branded gobos, allowing the space to quickly transition into a much more immersive nightlife environment during events.
To support DJs and live event use, the system also includes integrated strobe control, BPM-based effects and audio reactive lighting modes.
Simplified Control Without Sacrificing Capability
One of the key goals of the project was making the system easy to operate day-to-day.
The full lighting environment is controlled through a custom iPad interface with pre-programmed looks designed around different use cases within the venue. Office lighting, event scenes, networking environments and DJ modes can all be recalled instantly without needing specialist lighting knowledge.
Behind the scenes, the system combines Avolites lighting control, Resolume media playback and Stream Deck integration into a single workflow designed for reliability and long-term operation.
This allowed Lab.Club to maintain the flexibility of a professional event space without introducing unnecessary operational complexity for staff.
Delivering the Project Under Tight Timelines
The installation was delivered within a compressed production schedule while working alongside active builders and contractors onsite.
With only a short planning and procurement window before installation began, careful coordination was required around cable routing, fixture positioning and equipment accessibility within the compact footprint of the venue.
The final result is a fully integrated lighting and visual environment that supports both the professional daytime identity of the space and the energy required for evening events and activations.
